As the pet industry continues to grow, pet owners are increasingly prioritizing organic and healthy pet food options. In order to expand our existing customer base and attract new ones, we have made the decision to redesign our packaging. Our goal is to use simple and intuitive graphics that highlight the healthy ingredients used in our pet treats. By doing so, we aim to appeal to pet owners who are seeking high-quality and wholesome options for their pets. To ensure continuity and prevent the loss of our existing customers, we will maintain a similar color scheme to our previous packaging design.

About Fucoholic

Understanding and defining Fucoholic's brand values and unique advantages is a crucial step before embarking on the package redesign. After receiving a briefing directly from the CEO, I have reorganized the key points regarding the Fucoholic brand.

  1. In-house Veterinary Nutritionists: Takes pride in having dedicated in-house veterinary nutritionists who meticulously select and develop products. This expertise ensures the provision of trustworthy and high-quality offerings.
     

  2. Enriched Products: Focuses on incorporating fucoidan into their products to enhance nutritional value. This commitment provides customers with healthier choices and establishes a distinct product lineup.
     

  3. High-Quality Natural Ingredients: Uses premium natural ingredients, not limited to fucoidan, to manufacture their products. This enables customers to make informed choices and guarantees product quality and nutritional benefits.
     

  4. Meticulous Attention to Detail: Places great emphasis on meticulous attention to detail throughout the product development process. This dedication ensures product excellence and provides customers with the best possible experience.

*What is Fucoholic?
'Fucoholic' is a proprietary brand name for dog treats and feeds, combining the words 'fucoidan' and 'holic'. It signifies being captivated with fucoidan, and it represents a dog treat brand that focuses on the benefits of fucoidan.

*What is Fucoidan?
'Fucoidan' is a type of soluble dietary fiber that is found specifically in brown seaweeds such as kombu, wakame, and mozuku. It is known for its unique slippery texture and is known to have various potential health benefits.

Issues and Areas for Improvement

  1. Lack of Brand Cohesion: The diverse product lineup within the brand lacks overall consistency, which can lead to confusion among consumers regarding the brand identity.
     

  2. Poor Readability Due to Cursive Font: The use of cursive font, which may be difficult to read in non-English speaking regions like Korea, affects the legibility of the brand name and product names.
     

  3. Difficulty in Checking Contents: As the packaging is primarily displayed hanging or standing in stores, products with a transparent window placed in the center make it challenging for consumers to view the contents inside.
     

  4. Indistinct Ingredient Images: Images of main ingredients are either unclear or poorly visible when placed behind a transparent window, hindering their recognition.
     

  5. Lack of Information Hierarchy: The prioritization of information on the packaging is not clearly defined, making it challenging for consumers to quickly find the essential details.

Style Guide

Design Concept

Aim to present Fucoholic as a brand that embodies natural harmony, offers healthy products, and prioritizes a seamless experience for consumers.

  1. Natural Harmony: Emphasizing the nature and the harmonious bond with pets, this concept incorporates nature-inspired elements and earthy color palettes for a natural and eco-friendly feel.
     

  2. Healthy Imagery: Showcasing the healthiness of the products, this concept utilizes images of healthy ingredients.
     

  3. Consumer-Friendly Simplicity: Focusing on simplicity and user-friendliness, this concept ensures clear and concise packaging design, allowing consumers to quickly understand product information and instructions.

Symbol

In line with the Fucoholic brand, which specializes in dog treats and food, we incorporated dog graphics to represent our target audience. Additionally, we created a graphic for our key ingredient, fucoidan, using wave and seaweed elements.

Typography

We utilized the 'Sandoljeong 030' and 'Prendaad' font for a more static and legible design. The San Dolce 030 typeface provides a clean and modern look, while the Prendaad font enhances readability and clarity.
